Scripture:
“But there is a place where someone has testified:
‘What is mankind that you are mindful of them,
a son of man that you care for him?
You made them a little lower than the angels;
you crowned them with glory and honor
and put everything under their feet.’”
— Hebrews 2:6–8 (NIV)
Devotional Thought:
These verses remind us of our incredible value in God’s eyes. It’s easy to feel small and insignificant in a world that constantly measures worth by performance, popularity, or possessions. But God sees us differently. He is mindful of us—not in a passing thought, but in a deep, intentional way.
The author of Hebrews is quoting Psalm 8, emphasizing that humanity was created with purpose, dignity, and authority. Even though we may feel "lower than the angels," God has crowned us with glory and honor and entrusted us with responsibility in His creation.
In Christ, this identity is fully restored. Though we don’t yet see everything subject to us (verse 8 continues that thought), we see Jesus—who stepped into our humanity, suffered with us, and reigns over all. He restores the dignity sin tried to steal.
Reflection:
Where do you find your worth? Is it in your achievements or in how others see you? Today, let this truth sink in: You are known, valued, and crowned by God Himself.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for being mindful of me. Help me to live from a place of confidence in the identity You've given me—loved, honored, and called. Let me walk in that truth today. Amen.
