Come and Rest

Scripture:

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

— Matthew 11:28 (NIV)

Devotional Thought:

Life pulls at us from every direction. Expectations. Pressures. Silent battles no one sees. We wear ourselves thin trying to carry it all, trying to prove we’re strong enough. But Jesus never asked us to carry life alone.

His invitation is simple but powerful: Come to Me.

Not when you have it all together.

Not when you’ve fixed yourself.

Come now — weary, burdened, and tired.

Surrender isn’t giving up; it’s handing over what was never ours to hold.

Jesus doesn't offer just temporary relief. He offers rest for your soul — a deep, steady peace that the world can’t give. When you lay down your pride, your fear, and your struggles at His feet, He lifts the weight off your shoulders and carries it for you.

The more you surrender, the lighter you become. The more you trust Him, the stronger you grow.

Reflection:

What burdens am I still trying to carry on my own?

Have I truly surrendered them to Jesus, or am I holding on?

Prayer:

Jesus, I’m tired of carrying what You already promised to take. Today, I come to You — with my fears, my failures, and my heavy heart. I surrender them all. Teach me to rest in You and trust that You are enough. Amen.
