Christ, the Image of the Invisible God

Scripture: “The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.” — Colossians 1:15-16 (NIV)

Devotional Thought:

In a world filled with uncertainty, we often seek something tangible—something real to hold onto. Colossians 1:15-16 reminds us that Jesus Christ is not just a figure in history or a good teacher, but He is the very image of God Himself. If we want to know what God is like, we look to Jesus. His love, His power, and His authority reflect the nature of God.

This passage also tells us that Christ is the Creator. Everything—whether seen or unseen, great or small—was made through Him and for Him. That includes you and me. We were created with a purpose, and that purpose is to glorify God.

So, when life feels chaotic, and we wonder about our significance, we can find rest in this truth: We are His. He created us, He sustains us, and our lives are meant for Him. Let this truth anchor your heart today.

Reflection:

How does knowing Jesus is the image of God shape your relationship with Him?

In what ways can you live today in alignment with the truth that you were created for Christ?

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for revealing Yourself through Jesus. Help me to see You clearly in Him and to live in the purpose for which You created me. Strengthen my faith and remind me that I belong to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
